Sweet Chaos & The Amazon River. Maybe a Tear or Two.
Well happy Monday! If you didn't see me running around this weekend, you missed me winning the chaos Olympics. I am officially donzo until Wednesday morning for a much needed day of reset. Don't call, don't text. JK. You can but I might ignore it.
This past weekend was giving "my to-do list has a to-do list” and boyyy were we spriiinting through. We had 21st birthday orders and our first Friendsgiving spread (It's almost time, people!) so order away!
First things first I’m the realest, let’s give a few little high five shout outs to my team!
Drew was at the farmer's market Saturday selling all the goodies! Side note: for some reason he keeps “forgetting” to wear his charcuterie outfit. Who wants to see him wear it next weekend? He doesn’t necessarily need to wear it but who wouldn’t want someone dancing around in a cheese board costume handing out cheese samples? Just food for thought.
Abigail was a rockstar and was basically living in the shop all weekend keeping the lights on. She’s been looking for more hours so I’m finding new tasks here and there for her to do. I keep forgetting another part of my job is to make lunch for the kiddos at my son’s school every day so Abigail has been on that. I should come up with a better monthly meal plan just to make things more streamlined. Abigail, any suggestions?
I’m kinda sorta bringing on a manager-ish type of person. I’m not sure what the position would be called but I’m pretty sure I’ve reached my maximum number of open tabs in my brain and it’s time to ask for help.
So, thanks team! You guys rock the casbah.
Anyway, Saturday we prepped for probably the prettiest baby shower I have ever seen. It legitimately felt like a full-blown wedding reception for 120ish guests. We were simultaneously producing all that cheese gorgeousness and dishing out 65 regular meal prep orders for this morning’s delivery.
I clocked out at 8 PM Sunday thinking I was a champion. I came back at 8 AM this morning and my kitchen was giving Amazon River but nah, make it a flash flood and my nugget ice machine decided to spring a leak overnight. That, my friends, is where the tears came from.
This is the exact moment I realized that I’m a full-blown grown up because I genuinely just wanted to call my dad and ask him to fix it but instead I had to Google “commercial ice machine leak emergency." Send help (and maybe a plumber).
I actually got over it pretty quick because that’s what I had to do in the moment so a giant THANK YOU to all my clients who were so patient. Meals got packaged this morning, and we were only, like, 3 hours behind schedule. You guys are the only reason I survived today.
Seriously, between putting in Wednesday to Monday hours, managing the team, doing the soul crushing admin stuff, half answering emails and designing 1,000 labels to print myself, I honestly don't know how I do it. My primary energy source is the sheer stubbornness to not be defeated by an appliance, plus a massive amount of cold brew.
Time to recharge my millennial battery. See you Wednesday! Be kind to your small business owners (we're exhausted).
Oh, and order yourself a Thanksgiving platter please!
XX,
Abby
